Our Story
Starting as a service user advocacy group, at a time when members of our team were themselves users of local services, a decision was eventually made to establish Spear as a Community Interest Company (CIC).
We take part in outreach work among street sleepers and homeless people, many with drug and alcohol difficulties, and run drop-in and support groups in conjunction with other local services.
We believe in bringing communities together on a dynamic model of progressive peer-mentoring that reaches out and empowers individuals living in poverty and isolation, but on the basis of self led initiatives were the individuals with lived experience are the experts and shapes of the models that we work together to build.
